Notorious B.I.G. #1, Brooklyn, NY, 1994
ABOUT THIS PIECE
“I met him in his small apartment in Bed-Stuy. We sat in his kitchen and had a cup of tea. He was just a kid and his first album wasn’t even out yet. He rolled a fat blunt as I set up on his roof, a simple white backdrop up against a wall. A few kids were shooting guns off the wall on the next building. “Nothing to worry about”, Biggie said. This photograph circulated around the world upon his sudden death and became emblematic of an era in Hip Hop history. It was copied and reproduced on numerous formats and platforms. It features in the archival film documentary Biggie: I Got A Story To Tell directed by Emmet Malloy. “ - Geoffroy de Boismenu
