Elliott Smith Album Cover, People Falling, Prague, Czech Republic, 1992
ABOUT THIS PIECE
This photo, which appears to be of two people falling from a building, became the cover of Elliott Smith’s self titled, second record. It is actually a photo of a sculpture outside a museum in Prague, in the Czech Republic, taken on a trip in 1992. It was not shot with his album in mind, Elliott just liked it. He took the original black and white print and xeroxed it in blue to make the art that is familiar now to fans. This photo has never been seen until now, 8/26/2020, as it is published in the 25th anniversary edition of his second album bundled with a book of JJ Gonson’s photos of the late singer songwriter.
