ABOUT THIS PIECE

On a night that many believe was a watershed moment in his career, Bruce Springsteen opens up for Bonnie Raitt at the Harvard Square Theatre. A local favorite, but still an unknown by many, Bruce’s career was still in a stage of development. His first two releases for Columbia Records, Greetings from Asbury Park and The Wild, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle had been positively received by the critics but sales of the albums were disappointing to the label. Bruce knew what lay ahead would be instrumental in whether his recording career would continue. In the audience that night was Jon Landau, a local music critic for Rolling Stone and Boston’s The Real Paper. What would transpire that night would be a turning point in both their careers. For in Jon’s review of the show that night he would pen the famous line that some believe would give the spark Bruce needed to move forward. The quote being, “I saw the future of rock and roll and his name is Bruce Springsteen.”

In this photo Bruce is performing For You. Jon Landau would write of that performance in his review “(He) sang it with just piano accompaniment and a voice that rang out to the very last row of the Harvard Square Theatre.”

The 20x 30 is Selenium toned which deepens the blacks making them richer while enhancing the prints archival properties
